Dasu chairlift fiasco claims three lives

Eyewitnesses say chairlift's cable snapped, causing the lift to plunge into the Abaseen River near Barsin

At least three people drowned after a cable of a chairlift snapped, causing the lift to plunge into the Abaseen River near Barsin, Kohistan Dasu. The tragic incident occurred on Friday morning when three young men, aged between 20 and 34, boarded the chairlift to cross the river.

As the lift reached the middle of the river, the cable suddenly broke, sending the lift crashing into the water below.

The three individuals on board, all residents of the Kengah area of Kohistan, were swept away by the river's strong currents.

Despite several hours of relentless efforts by Rescue 1122 teams and local divers, the bodies of the victims have yet to be recovered. The search and rescue operation has continued, but the fast-moving waters have made the task exceedingly difficult.

The victims have been identified as Muhammad Basheer, son of Qaiser, Nasib Khan, son of Manzar Khan, and Fidaur Rehman, son of Mir Alam. All three hailed from the Kiiga area of Kohistan and belonged to the Khairza Khel caste.

Following the incident, a large number of residents, alongside Rescue 1122 teams, rushed to the scene in hopes of rescuing the young men or recovering their bodies. However, despite several hours of intense effort, the rescuers were unsuccessful in their attempts to locate the bodies.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims are left waiting anxiously, hoping for some closure as the search for their loved ones continues.
