Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed the education department to award prizes to the position holders of all boards in the province along with their teachers.

Presiding over a meeting of the department, the chief minister approved the Students Scholarship Programme and Laptop Scheme, directing the relevant authorities to take necessary measures for their launch.

She said, "The Punjab government will pay more than Rs125 billion annually to meet all educational expenses of 25,000 students."

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz issued directives to start a transport programme for female students, under which buses will be given to 60 girls colleges in the initial phase.

She also ordered immediate steps for the establishment of information technology hubs in all districts of Punjab.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Zafar Dal and Higher Education Secretary Dr Farrukh Naveed were also present.
