KARACHI: Over 100 suspects were detained during operations by security forces in Karachi on Thursday.

The operations, jointly conducted by Police and Rangers also succeeded in confiscation of arms and ammunition from the suspects.

Police and Rangers conducted joint operations in Baldia, Yusuf Plaza, Indus Plaza and Pehlwan Goth.

One suspect was also arrested in Nazimabad for allegedly posing as a Rangers personnel and robbing people. The suspect used to dress up in a fake Rangers uniform to harass victims.

Two target killers have also been arrested during a raid in Godhra and are expected to be presented in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) soon.

In ongoing political efforts to curb the violence, the government is working on a plan to draw a clear line between ‘violent and non-violent forces’ to restore peace in Karachi and Balochistan.

“It’s time for political parties to clarify their position that there is no motive behind the violence in Karachi or in Quetta,” said Interior Minister Rehman Malik.

“[Some] political parties should stop the campaign – extortion in Karachi,” he added.

Malik should either remain quiet or name the culprits --- one gets weary of the constant innuendo that unspecified political parties are behind all this violence.
