Disney’s live-action remake of 'Snow White' has become the subject of mockery online following the release of its first teaser at the D23 fan event in Anaheim, California.
The teaser, featuring Rachel Zegler as 'Snow White' and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, has been widely ridiculed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Many users have pointed out the irony that the film’s plot revolves around the Evil Queen’s jealousy of 'Snow White''s beauty, while some viewers perceive Zegler as less attractive than Gadot, leading to widespread amusement.
Are you really expecting us to believe that Snow White is more beautiful than the villain?

The remake has been embroiled in controversy ever since it was announced in 2016. Rachel Zegler previously revealed that the remake would focus more on 'Snow White''s career rather than a traditional love story. Some fans criticised this approach, arguing that it was a misguided attempt at feminism.

Additionally, actor Peter Dinklage, who has a form of dwarfism and has played dwarfish characters in his career, dismissed the project as a "backward story" during a January 2022 interview on Marc Maron's WTF podcast. Dinklage criticised Disney for attempting to modernise the film while still adhering to what he viewed as an outdated narrative.
I feel like they styled her hair all wrong. It’s very flat and lifeless. Animated Snow White has a 1930s hairstyle. If you’re gonna emulate that, give your actress a 1930s hairstyle, not… whatever this is. Also you gotta make sure the hairstyle flatters your actress’s face. https://t.co/phjKQrZ0nc pic.twitter.com/Aksk445IYa

Despite Disney’s intentions to update the classic tale, the film’s latest teaser has been met with widespread derision, particularly concerning Zegler’s casting and the film’s overall direction. As the film’s release approaches, the ongoing amusement and scepticism online may shape its reception among audiences. 'Snow White' is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 21, 2025.
