Pixar unveiled the exciting premise of Toy Story 5 at D23 2024: a classic toys versus modern technology showdown. Director Andrew Stanton revealed that the film will explore the conflict between toys and electronics, with an image of Bonnie engrossed in her tablet hinting at the central theme.
Along with the plot reveal, attendees got a glimpse of images featuring around 50 malfunctioning Buzz Lightyears and the beloved cowgirl Jessie. While little else was revealed about the film, Pixar did release a short video featuring the iconic little green aliens, building anticipation for their return in the upcoming sequel.
"Toy Story 5" is slated for a Summer 2026 release, with Andrew Stanton returning as writer and director. Tim Allen has confirmed his reprisal of the iconic Buzz Lightyear, while Tom Hanks' return as Woody remains unconfirmed.
