The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Gujranwala Zone claims to have completed 542 inquiries against human traffickers during the past two months, as a result of which 82 accused were charged and their cases sent to courts.
"Thy include three most wanted absconders involved in an incident of loss of lives after a boat sank near Libya, one listed in the Red Book and 15 other absconders," an official said.
According to an FIA report, the agency arrested more than 200 suspects and recovering Rs20 million during the investigations.
The FIA director stated that five fake Indian, six Belgian, Greek and Bosnian passports, visas, educational certificates, technical diplomas and stamp papers had been seized from the possession of the arrested suspects.
The arrested suspects include some government employees.
In addition, the FIA immigration wing conducted operations at the Sialkot airport, offloading 17 suspicious individuals and seizing fake documents from five passengers. Criminal proceedings were initiated against them.
The offcial said the FIA was continuing its rigorous actions against human trafficking, fake visas and other crimes.
