Awkwafina in the dark about 'Shang-Chi' sequel despite Marvel's exciting announcements at SDCC 2024

Marvel Studios has not confirmed a sequel to "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," but fans remain hopeful.

Awkwafina, known for her role as Katy in "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," recently shared that she has not received any updates regarding a sequel to the popular Marvel film.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, she stated, "I have not. I haven't [heard anything]."   

This news comes as a surprise to many fans, especially after Marvel's exciting announcements at San Diego Comic-Con, where the studio unveiled plans for its future projects, including the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Doom in "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars."   

Despite not having any news about a "Shang-Chi" sequel, Awkwafina expressed her enthusiasm for Marvel's recent announcements, stating, "Those were exciting announcements at Comic-Con."   

Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed a sequel to "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," but fans remain hopeful, given the film's success and positive reception.

At Comic-Con, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige also confirmed that Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of "Avengers: Endgame," will helm both "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars." The Russo brothers expressed their excitement about returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a five-year hiatus.   

While Awkwafina's lack of information about a "Shang-Chi" sequel may be disappointing to some fans, it's important to remember that Marvel Studios often keeps its projects under wraps until they are ready to make official announcements.
