PM Shehbaz directs immediate action against FBR Track and Trace system negligence

Premier assigned the Minister of State for Finance the responsibility of overseeing the FBR transformation project.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the swift implementation of measures to hold those responsible for negligence in the Federal Board of Revenue's (FBR) Track and Trace System accountable.

He emphasized the need to accelerate the transformation of the FBR, highlighting the importance of digitization and modernization as key components of the restructuring plan.

During a review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, a detailed report on the Track and Trace System was presented.

He assigned the Minister of State for Finance the responsibility of overseeing the FBR transformation project.

He urged the economic team to expedite the process, emphasizing that reforms in the FBR are essential for improving Pakistan's tax system and safeguarding public funds.

Prime Minister Sharif stressed the urgent need for action against those responsible for the failures and irregularities in the Track and Trace System. "We will work tirelessly to save every penny for the people of Pakistan," he said.

He reiterated that the digitization of the FBR is a top priority for the government and that no delays would be tolerated. The meeting was also briefed on the progress of the FBR's digitization efforts.

In attendance were Federal Ministers Mohammad Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State for Finance Ali Pervaiz Malik, the Prime Minister's Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal, and other senior officials.
