KARACHI:

A judicial magistrate in District South has granted police a one-day physical remand for 13 accused involved in a case related to sloganeering against the state and institutions.

The investigating officer (IO) informed the judge that the accused were arrested during a rally organised by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).

The rally began from the Arts Council and proceeded to the Karachi Press Club.

The defence lawyer argued that the accused were neither involved nor the part of the protest and they were arrested from various locations unrelated to the rally.

The court requested CCTV footage from the IO to review the circumstances of the arrests. After considering the arguments, the magistrate approved a one-day physical remand for the accused.
