RAWALPINDI:

Despite the recent reduction in petroleum prices, the district administration and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) have failed to get fares lowered in inner city and suburban areas of the district.

Commuters have expressed frustration, pointing out that transporters swiftly increase fares when fuel prices rise, but fail to reduce these when prices drop.

A RTA spokesperson acknowledged the issue, saying the Rawalpindi DC has issued a directive to reduce fares and a meeting with transporters has been scheduled to enforce this directive.
