Chris Evans used his Instagram story to express his gratitude to Ryan Reynolds for giving him the opportunity to reprise his role as Johnny Storm/Human Torch after 17 years in Marvel's “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

The film, which broke records with a $211 million debut at the domestic box office and is expected to surpass $1 billion globally by August, featured Evans as one of its most surprising cameos.

Evans expressed his gratitude to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy for including him in such an amazing film.

He shared a photo of the four of them on the “Deadpool & Wolverine” set and noted, “They’re three of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. Special thank you to Ryan for making it all happen. Playing Johnny again was a dream come true and he’ll always have a special place in my heart.”

Evans, known for his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, left the character after 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.” When he appears in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” many viewers (including Reynolds' Deadpool) might expect him to be playing a variant of Captain America.

However, it is soon revealed that Evans is actually reprising his role as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, a character he previously portrayed in 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”

Evans' Johnny Storm is among several characters from the 20th Century Fox Marvel films making a return in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Jennifer Garner’s Elektra and Wesley Snipes’ Blade also appear in the movie.

Fans were ecstatic to see Captain America reprise his Fantastic Four character. One fan commented on their excitement sharing: “we live in a timeline where Chris Evans and RDJ have both returned to the mcu during the same week.”

Another fan shared: “Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, how I’ve missed you"
