A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly throwing his 10-year-old daughter out of a car and abandoning her on the side of US 192 near Scott Boulevard in Kissimmee.
According to Osceola County Sheriff Marco Lopez, the incident took place around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, following a dispute between the man and the girl’s grandparents.
Sheriff Lopez expressed concern over the potential dangers the girl faced, including kidnapping and human trafficking, labelling the actions as "reckless" and "irresponsible." Witnesses stated they saw the man throw the girl out of the car, along with her toys and clothes, before speeding away. He reportedly left his daughter on the roadside and told her to walk to her grandmother's house, approximately 21 minutes away.
Hector Serrano, 30, was arrested shortly after the incident and is now facing charges of child neglect. The Department of Children and Families has been notified and is involved in the case.
