CHAK JHUMRA:

Two women died and two others were injured when a part of the roof of a cloth warehouse on Millat Road collapsed.

According to police, 75-year-old Catherine Bibi, 65-year-old Parveen Akhtar, 60-year-old Azra and 45-year-old Zarina Kausar were working under the dilapidated roof of the cloth warehouse in Gokwal when it collapsed. The women were buried under the debris. Rescue teams reached the spot, took them out of the wreckage and shifted them to a hospital.

However, Catherine and Parveen succumbed to their injuries. Millat Town police helped shift the bodies to a hospital. According to rescue officials, the warehouse covered a 20-marla area. A part of the roof over four marla collapsed. At that time, the women workers were sorting pieces of cloth.

Rainwater pooling on the rooftop caused it to collapse.

Meanwhile, two people, including a 15-year-old boy, were killed by strangulation and torture in separate incidents.

Passers-by saw the body of a 45-year-old unknown person in a canal near Roshanwala police station and informed the officials.

The police shifted the body to a hospital.

According to the police, the victim was apparently tortured to death.

In another incident, a 15-year-old unidentified boy was strangled to death and his body thrown into a canal in the Tarkhani area.
