RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi district administration has issued a circular to all the concerned institutions to provide complete security cover and other facilities to the participants of the sit-in of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Liaquat Bagh.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner General issued a letter to the heads and chairmen of the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC), the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to provide full security and all necessary facilities to the participants.

All the necessary measures should be taken in this regard and staff and machinery should be provided for the security facilities of the participants. Along with this circular, facilities of washrooms and water tanks for drinking water have also been provided for the participants.

All-night lighting has also been arranged in the sit-in areas, while the concerned police station has been strictly ordered not to register a case against anyone for violation of section 144 in connection with the sit-in.

Section 144 imposed on Friday following an expected protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), was lifted.

As soon as the order of the district administration was received, the traffic police, the local police, the municipality, Wasa and PHA are now busy providing facilities to the participants.
