Deadpool and Wolverine’s many Easter eggs feature a reference to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man that clarifies his fate in the MCU.

As the first official project featuring Fox Marvel characters within the MCU canon, the studio packed the film with references. Although they operate in their own timeline rather than Earth-616’s Sacred Timeline, the film’s subtle nods to the MCU ensure that Deadpool and Wolverine fit seamlessly into Marvel’s Multiverse Saga.

The richest source of MCU Easter eggs is Happy Hogan’s office in the Avengers Compound. Wade, while interviewing for a spot on the Avengers, is surrounded by numerous memorabilia from previous MCU films.

Among the notable props displayed are Captain America’s prototype shield from Iron Man 2 and Tony Stark’s arc reactor, last seen at his funeral in Avengers: Endgame. However, one particular item provides significant insight into the current state of the MCU.

During Wade's interview, a photo of Tony Stark with his arm around someone is displayed. This is the same picture Tony gazes at in Endgame when reflecting on his bond with Peter Parker, which motivates him to explore time travel and rejoin the Avengers.

However, another item on Happy’s shelf blocks Peter from view. While the photo might be considered a fun Easter egg, the fact that Peter is hidden suggests a lot about his current status in the MCU.

It might seem unusual for Happy to obscure Peter, but it makes sense given the conclusion of Spider-Man: No Way Home. To prevent multiversal beings from invading, Peter has Doctor Strange cast a spell erasing everyone's memory of him from the universe.
