Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot is generating buzz with reports suggesting that three iconic mutants will make their return.
According to a recent post by @MyTimetoShineH on X, formerly known as Twitter, the reboot may feature Angel, Iceman, and Jubilee. This news comes as Marvel continues to expand its roster following its acquisition of X-Men film rights in March 2019. The move has fans speculating about potential crossovers and new storylines.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige discussed the reboot with Gizmodo, hinting at a diverse roster that will include both well-known and lesser-known characters.
Feige mentioned that the reboot would offer a blend of familiar faces and new ones, influenced by the success of X-Men '97.
He said, "There are a lot of great X-Men characters in all of the Fox versions of the X-Men films. And there are a lot of great X-Men characters that have never gone on the big screen. So I think as we always try to do, as we did when we made the arrangement with Sony for Spider-Man, you'll probably see a mix of characters you've seen before and characters you've never seen before."
Angel and Iceman, original members of the X-Men team, first appeared in The X-Men #1. They, along with Jubilee, have been part of the X-Men film franchise in various forms.
While Angel and Iceman appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand and other films, Jubilee’s role was notably underdeveloped in past appearances. Fans have expressed hope that the reboot will give these characters more substantial roles and storylines.
Though the casting details are still under wraps, speculation about potential actors for these roles continues. Shawn Ashmore, who previously portrayed Iceman, has indicated interest in returning.
As of now, there is no confirmed release date for the reboot, and all previous X-Men films are available for streaming on Disney Plus.
