At Comic-Con, Akiva Goldsman, Executive Producer of the "Star Trek" franchise, revealed that discussions are underway about a potential stage musical adaptation.

The exact storyline for the musical has not been specified, but it is anticipated to focus on "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," a popular series on Paramount+.

During the panel, Alex Kurtzman and Goldsman were questioned by a fan about the possibility of more musical episodes similar to "Substance Rhapsody," which was notable for being the franchise's first music-centric episode.

Goldsman responded, "We’re in the very early stages of figuring out whether we can bring a version of that to the stage." Rebecca Romijn, who portrays Una Chin-Riley in "Strange New Worlds," expressed her surprise and excitement, saying, "Akiva, I can’t believe you just said that!"

In the episode "Substance Rhapsody," a malfunction with a quantum probability field causes the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise to spontaneously burst into song, with the expanding field creating a risk for other ships, including allies and adversaries.
