KARACHI:

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, in a meeting with the delegation of the Pakistan Association of the Blind Sindh, approved a grant of Rs16 million and vehicles to transport blind children from their homes to school.

"We are implementing the five per cent quota in government jobs for differently-abled persons," the CM said while addressing the meeting.

Association President Riaz Memon, noted that during the last tenure of Asif Ali Zardari, his association was granted a concession card for travel on PIA and Railways, which was rescinded after his tenure ended. He also mentioned that the PPP government under Gilani had supported them, but this support ceased with the change in the government.

The chief minister was informed that blind persons should have their CNICs reflect their vision impairment. He assured the association that he would discuss the issue with the NADRA.
