Rapper YFN Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, is approaching an early release from prison, supported by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Willis penned a letter to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, indicating that the state does not oppose Bennett’s release, contingent on his continued good behavior. Willis stated, “The state does not object to the defendant, Rayshawn Bennett, being released.”

YFN Lucci gained fame with his debut mixtape "Wish Me Well" in 2014 and achieved mainstream success with his single “Key to the Streets” from "Wish Me Well 2." His debut album "Ray Ray from Summerhill" peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200, solidifying his position in hip-hop. Despite his musical success, Lucci's career faced significant setbacks due to legal issues. In January 2021, he was arrested on charges related to a gang-related shooting, leading to multiple charges, including felony murder.

In January 2024, Lucci pleaded guilty to violating the Street Gang and Terrorism Prevention Act and was sentenced to 20 years, with 10 years to be served in custody. His attorney, Drew Findling, expressed optimism about his client’s early release, calling Willis’ letter a “powerful punch.” Findling stated, “The District Attorney of Fulton County did the unorthodox. That letter from the district attorney is a powerful punch.”

The news of Lucci’s potential early release has sparked mixed reactions from the public. Supporters argue that he deserves a second chance, while critics emphasize the severity of his crimes. As Lucci’s legal team works towards securing his release, the final decision rests with the State Board of Pardons and Paroles.
