Oscar Piastri expressed his gratitude to fans, particularly the one who gave him a €5 note for good luck, following his first Grand Prix win in Hungary. The 23-year-old secured victory after McLaren team-mate Lando Norris followed team orders to let him pass. Despite the controversy, Piastri was thrilled with his achievement and shared his excitement in a social media video.

Piastri's video, captioned "Trying to put it all into words... better at driving than talking," was posted 24 hours after his win. In the video, he thanked his supporters, especially those who attended the race with Australian flags. "Thanks for all your support from Down Under," he said, adding, "It was pretty special to be a part of that."

The highlight of his message was a special mention to a fan who gave him a €5 note before the race. The fan's gesture went viral after he filmed himself handing the money to Piastri, saying, "It's good luck, for real, it's good luck. Take it, it's a gift from me. You're going to win!" Piastri initially hesitated but eventually accepted the note.

Reflecting on the moment, Piastri said, "It's something I've dreamed of since I was a kid. It's starting to sink in a little bit more and I'm just very happy." He concluded his video with a light-hearted comment: "One race win up and an extra five euros. To the fan, you know who you are. You might have to give me five euros every week!"
