ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has decided to issue uniform tariffs for wind power projects for 20 years. Nepra officials on Thursday said that the uniform tariffs would remain in effect for at least 20 years. They said that the decision would pave the way for early completion of wind power projects in the country, as the increase in wind power generation would reduce the country’s dependence on imported furnace oil. They said that wind power companies would not have to get tariffs approved by Nepra. However, they added, the tariffs would not be applicable in case the power generation licence of the company concerned was cancelled. They said that the notification regarding uniform tariffs would be issued soon after a public hearing.
