Bollywood veteran actress Tabassum, commonly known as Tabu, recently disclosed that she had turned down several film offers alongside superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
In an interview with Indian media, the versatile actress explained her decision-making process regarding film projects.
Tabassum mentioned that when a project did not resonate with her, she chose not to accept it.
“I was offered numerous films with Shah Rukh Khan, but I declined. I believe Shah Rukh also turns down many projects,” she said.
Reflecting on her acting career, Tabassum noted that in the films she worked on with Shah Rukh Khan, she never aimed to compete or overshadow him.
She emphasised the importance of mutual respect and space in the professional realm.
When asked about retirement, the 52-year-old actress asserted that she has no plans to retire soon.
"I urge writers and filmmakers to craft roles that suit me," she added.
Tabassum also remarked on the pervasive insecurity among many actors in the industry.
She stressed the necessity of adapting to diverse environments and co-existing with all colleagues, regardless of their confidence levels.
