‘Educational activities must go on uninterrupted’

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai has ordered the Education Monitoring Authority (EMA) to focus on providing facilities to students.

He said it was important to ensure the attendance of teachers and students, while also laying emphasis on the continuation of education activities. He issued these directives while presiding over a review meeting on the Education Monitoring Authority on Monday.

Elementary and Secondary Education Special Secretary Asfandyar Khattak, Additional Secretary Jahangir Azam and officials of the Education Monitoring Authority also attended the meeting. Tarakai said that according to the data of the authority, policy level decisions are had been designed for schools and students. He continued that several important goals had been achieved due to the excellent performance of the monitoring authority.

The minister said that the monitoring of double shift school programmes, complete details of girls' community schools and monthly visits to the institutes had also been entrusted to the authority. He said that all employees of the authority worked diligently to provide furniture and free textbooks to schools.

Tarakai also credited the officials with unearthing the details of enrolment campaigns and vacancies, saying the efforts were appreciable. “However, keeping future requirements in mind, measures will be taken to develop the authority along modern lines. This includes equipping employees with modern training and IT equipment,” the minister said.

The monitoring authority officials told the minister that it looks over 34,633 schools.
