Angelina Jolie's daughter, Shiloh Jolie, has removed her father Brad Pitt's last name due to "painful events" in her life, her lawyer revealed.

Shiloh's attorney, Peter Levine, clarified in a statement to Page Six that the 18-year-old did not place a newspaper ad to announce her name change.

“Shiloh Jolie did not take out an ‘ad’ announcing any name change, and any press reporting that is inaccurate,” Levine told us.

“As Shiloh’s attorney, I am required to publish a legal notice because the law in California requires that of anyone who wants to change their name. That legal notice was published in the Los Angeles Times, as is required.”

The lawyer said that the media “should be more careful in their reporting, especially when covering a young adult who has made an independent and significant decision following painful events, and is merely following the legal process.”

Levine's statement follows an insider's confirmation to Page Six that the legal notice was indeed published in the newspaper.

Page Six has contacted Pitt’s representative for a comment but has not received a response yet.

Shiloh is seeking to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.

She filed to legally remove "Pitt" from her surname on her 18th birthday in May.

That same month, fans noticed her 16-year-old sister did the same, appearing as Vivienne Jolie in “The Outsiders” Playbill.

Meanwhile, Pitt, 60, was reportedly "aware and upset" about Shiloh dropping his last name.

“He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,” a source told People last month.
