E-tender system launched in govt depts

RAWALPINDI:

In order to make the system transparent and efficient, Punjab has formally introduced an "e-tender system" across all government departments, subordinate government bodies, and municipal corporations throughout the province. This marks the first time that all tenders for government departments have been fully transitioned to an online platform.

Under the new system, ongoing tenders from each department will be uploaded into the system, and accessible to all registered contractors. These contractors, who are registered with the government, will now submit their tenders online. The system will automatically scrutinise all submitted tenders by the specified date, listing them in order of the lowest bid. This innovation will eliminate the need for contractors to visit offices and reduce disputes over tenders, enhancing transparency.

District Council Rawalpindi Administrator, Hassan Waqar Cheema, said that within the next two weeks, following the new budget, all new development schemes and projects of any institutions, including the District Council Rawalpindi, will be made online. The manual tender system has been completely abolished. A comprehensive list of all government-registered contractors and their registered numbers has been entered into the system.
