The Revenue dept has approved the recruitment of trans persons as tehsildars, deputy tehsildars, readers and assistants to the senior officers within the department. Transgender applicants are now eligible to apply for these new positions, with a special age relaxation of two to three years granted to both men and women.
In addition to transgender persons, qualified and educated women will be eligible for recruitment as tehsildar and naib tehsildar. The approval for these recruitments has been followed by a formal request to the PPSC to start the recruitment process.
According to the details, a total of 68 deputy tehsildars (Grade 14), 42 tehsildars, consolidation officers (Grade 16), and 108 assistants (Grade 16) will be recruited. The Punjab Public Service Commission has invited applications for these positions until August 5. The selection process includes written tests and interviews covering current affairs, English, and general knowledge.
Shemale Association Secretary, Mona Babli, has welcomed the inclusion of trans persons in the recruitment process, suggesting that educated trans person should be allowed to apply for positions such as fighter pilot.
