Divorce trend high among people aged 35-39

The divorce trend is highest among couples aged between 35 and 39 years, while the highest number of separations is also recorded in the same age group, shows the statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics based on the 2023 digital population census.

As per the headcount, Sindh is home to 3.239 million people aged 15 and above. Among them, 2.150 million are married, 958,6422 are single, 1.168 million are widowed, and 91,089 are divorced. Moreover, 44,139 persons live in separation from their spouses. The number of transgender persons in Sindh, according to these figures, is 4,065.

The data highlights specific trends in the districts of Karachi division. In the Central district, which has an adult population of 2.507 million, 1.534 million are married, 851,164 are single, and 13,155 are divorced. The district is also home to 551 trans persons - two of them are aged 75 or above.

The East district has an adult population of 2.543 million, with 1.589 million married and 855,728 single. As many as 10,465 divorcees and 410 transgender persons also live in this district.

In South district, which has an adult population of 1.589 million are married and 529,516 are unmarried. Of the total population, 9,027 are divorcees and 388 trans persons, including six aged 75 or above.

Similarly, the West district has an adult population of 1.688 million. Of these, 1.091 million are married and 528,448 are unmarried. Another 7,482 are divorcees, while 193 transgender persons.

In Keamari District, 1.271 million adults live - 807,956 married and 418,893 unmarried. As many as 4,824 persons are divorced and 203 are transgender individuals.

Korangi District has an adult population of 1.932 million, including 1.179 million married and 669,130 single. Similarly, the population includes 10,284 divorcees and 645 trans persons.

Finally, Malir District has an adult population of 1.513 million - 993,610 are married and 467,874 unmarried. There are 4,731 divorcees and 216 transgenders in the district.

These statistics provide a comprehensive overview of the marital status and demographics across the province, reflecting varied trends and demographics within each district.
