Actor Glen Powell has revealed that his parents have appeared in every one of his movies, a tradition that began with 'Spy Kids 3.' During an appearance on The Today Show, Powell shared this heartwarming detail while discussing his upcoming film, 'Twisters.'
“There’s a great sequence midway through a rodeo sequence in the movie and [my parents are] right behind Daisy Edgar-Jones and I,” Powell said on the show. “You’ll be able to see them here in a second,” he continued as a clip played. “Yeah, they’re right behind us there…. Look at that.” When Today host Hoda Kotb asked if his parents have been in all his movies, Powell confirmed, “They’ve made it in since Spy Kids 3,” he admitted. “Yeah, literally since Spy Kids 3. I think they’ve been in every single one.”
This tradition includes a cameo in Powell’s 2023 romantic comedy 'Anyone but You,' where his parents, Glen Sr. and Cyndy, appeared as airline passengers. Last December, Powell mentioned this during another interview, highlighting their ongoing participation in his cinematic journey.
In a May cover story with The Hollywood Reporter, Powell elaborated on his family's involvement, noting that some combination of his parents and two sisters always visit the sets of his projects, regardless of the location. “I know we’re probably in his way sometimes, but you wouldn’t know it because he makes everyone feel loved and taken care of,” Powell’s mother, Cyndy, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Powell's commitment to including his family in his work reflects his close-knit family bonds and their supportive presence throughout his career. As Powell continues to rise in Hollywood, his family’s cameos have become a charming and expected feature of his films, delighting fans and adding a personal touch to his professional achievements.
