Andrew Scott, fresh off his Emmy nomination for Ripley, is set to lead the cast in StudioCanal and Working Title's upcoming D-Day film Pressure as reported by Deadline. Scott will portray Group Captain James Stagg, the Chief Meteorologist for the Allies, whose critical weather forecast informed Supreme Commander General Eisenhower about the conditions for the Normandy invasion.

Directed by Anthony Maras (Hotel Mumbai), Pressure is a true story thriller scheduled to begin filming in the UK this September. The screenplay, co-written by Olivier Award-winner David Haig and Maras, is based on Haig’s acclaimed play. The production, handled by Studiocanal for world sales, promises to deliver a gripping narrative centered on one of WWII's most pivotal moments, according to Deadline.

The official synopsis describes the intense 72 hours leading up to D-Day, with Stagg tasked to provide the most crucial weather forecast in history. The narrative captures the tension between Stagg and the Allied leadership, illustrating the dire consequences of inaccurate weather predictions and the risk of German intelligence intercepting their plans. With only his aide, Captain Kay Summersby, to trust, Stagg’s forecast directly influences Eisenhower's final decision, determining the fate of millions.

David Haig's play, on which the screenplay is based, has received critical acclaim and was performed for the late Queen Elizabeth II and world leaders during the 75th anniversary of D-Day in 2019. The play delves into the personal and military pressures faced by Stagg, highlighting the conflicting weather forecasts leading up to the invasion.
