Kate Middleton receives standing ovation at Wimbledon men's final; gives singles trophy to Alcaraz

The Princess of Wales received a standing ovation at Centre Court as she watched the Wimbledon men's singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic alongside her daughter, Princess Charlotte.

This was Catherine's second public appearance since her cancer diagnosis and abdominal surgery earlier this year, and she received a standing ovation from the spectators.

In her role as patron of the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Catherine awarded the singles trophy to Alcaraz.

In Sunday's match-up, Alcaraz defended his title against Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion.

Before sitting down, Catherine and Charlotte had the opportunity to meet several of Britain's tennis players, including Emma Raducanu.

Before the trophy presentation on Centre Court, Catherine also had conversations with some of the ball boys and girls.

The princess offered condolences and shook hands with runner-up Djokovic before handing the trophy to Alcaraz, who won with scores of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

In June, the princess resumed her public duties by attending Trooping the Colour, waving and smiling alongside her children from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

At the time, Catherine acknowledged her cancer diagnosis in a statement, noting that while she is making "good progress", she emphasized that she still faced uncertainties ahead.

That update marked the most important development in her health since she disclosed her cancer diagnosis in March.

The princess mentioned experiencing both "good days and bad days," adding that her treatment will continue for several more months.

While Catherine watched the tennis final, the Prince of Wales was in Berlin, preparing to cheer for England in the Euro 2024 final against Spain.
