Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has decided to launch free distribution of solar panels from the Independence Day among the people using up to 200 units of electricity per month.
The people using more than 200 and up to 500 units will receive solar panels on making 10 percent payment.
The Punjab government will pay 90% of the total amount for the provision of solar panels to the people using up to 500 units of power per month.
The interest-free payment for the solar panels will be made in five years through banks.
According to a statement, the modus operandi regarding the provision of solar panels to the people has been fianlised.
The chief minister said, "The masses’ electricity bills will be reduced by 40 per cent with the provision of solar panels.
It is my sole mission to provide maximum relief to the people. Despite difficult circumstances, we are standing with the people and will continue to do so."
