The district administration conducted a grand operation against encroachments and reclaimed land belonging to the Sikh community which had been illegally occupied for 77 years.

A grand operation was conducted and on Zafarwal Road led under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zulqarnain and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Muhammad Iqbal.

A 500-pond spread over eight kanals of Ranjit Singh’s Gurdwara Babe-Di-Bari had been occupied by land mafia in 1947 who turned it into a cattle pen and now half a dozen shops have been opened there.

Moreover, an office of a political party had been built. The encroachments were cleared using heavy machinery.

Municipal Officer Regulation Rana Saqlain, anti-encroachment staff, local police officials and officials of the Revenue Department took part in the operation.

ADC Revenue Muhammad Iqbal told the media that according to the records of the Revenue Department, the land belonged to the Sikh community.
