SC orders closure of stone-crushing plants
The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday ordered the closure of three stone-crushing plants in the Suraj Gali area of Haripur, Khanpur. A three-member bench headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard the stone-crushing case.
Haji Khattab Gul, Niazi One and Niazi Two crushing plants will be closed. A report was sought from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government about the factual situation of other stone-crushing plants.
Local citizens have protested many times by blocking roads against these crushing plants after the loss of life, injuries and multiple diseases owing to dust. Sources said that these plants were working in partnership with influential politicians.
