Suspect evades custody after bail dismissal

A District and Sessions Court in Rawalpindi dismissed the interim bail of and accused for concealing his first marriage and declaring himself unmarried on the marriage certificate of his second marriage. Additional District and Sessions Judge Waseem Anjum heard the case.

Following the dismissal of the interim bail, the accused evaded the police and escaped from the judicial complex.

Wajid Mansoor faces charges under sections 465, 420, and 495 of the Pakistan Penal Code. This case, which has been registered at Sadiqabad police station, marks the first time an FIR has been lodged against a husband under these provisions in Punjab.

The court declared that hiding the first marriage constitutes fraud and deception. Consequently, he is not entitled to interim bail, which was dismissed by the court. After the bail rejection, the accused managed to escape the police.
