On July 10 KST, Nam Tae Hyun, singer and former member of South Korean boy band WINNER, broke his silence on social media regarding allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, Seo Eun Woo.
In a lengthy statement, Nam addressed Seo's recent claims, stating, "I have been aware that my ex-girlfriend has been writing about her former boyfriend. It is regrettable that she is selectively mentioning only the other person's faults, excluding her own perspective and leaving out the full context."
Seo Eun Woo had accused Nam Tae Hyun of assault and threatening her with revenge porn, sparking widespread attention. Nam clarified, "The content of the posts currently being shared are private matters from 2-3 years ago when we were in a relationship.
We had frequent fights, and it was not a case of one person being solely at fault. I swear that I never unilaterally committed assault." He also revealed that their relationship continued even after his drug use came to light.
"Both of us apologized and reconciled for the hurtful actions we did to each other back then," Nam continued. "We continued our relationship as a couple, and after I entered a rehabilitation center, we tried to support each other's recovery. Our relationship fluctuated, but we maintained contact until recently. I decided that our relationship was not beneficial for either of us and ended it."
Expressing reluctance to engage further in public discourse on their past, Nam stated, "I don't want to respond in the same manner, causing misunderstandings and attacks from the public due to her posts." He concluded with reflections on his past actions, expressing regret and a desire for personal improvement.
Sources report that the allegations first surfaced in August 2022 when Seo Eun Woo accused Nam Tae Hyun of drug use and assault, leading to legal repercussions for both parties.
Seo received a 10-month prison sentence with a two-year probation, while Nam Tae Hyun was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation.
