Country music stars Devin Dawson and Leah Sykes have announced the arrival of their first child together, a baby girl named Iris Evelaine Durrett.
The couple shared the joyous news via a heartfelt joint Instagram post, accompanied by photos of the new parents holding their newborn in the hospital.
Iris Evelaine was born on the 4th of July at 9:13pm, coinciding with the fireworks illuminating the Nashville sky. She weighed 8lbs and measured 20 inches long.
"Momma and baby are both doing well and to say I’m so proud of both is an understatement," Dawson and Sykes expressed in the caption. "We are tired and happy and finding a rhythm and just so in awe."
They extended gratitude to their family and friends for the overwhelming support they've received, mentioning their decision to take a break from music for a few weeks to fully embrace this precious time together.
"We are soaking up every bit of this as much as I possibly can," they added. "So much love all around. 💜🎀"
Dawson, 34, and Sykes, 26, initially shared their pregnancy news back in January, revealing their excitement about expecting a baby girl in July. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019 in Franklin, Tennessee, had eagerly anticipated this new chapter in their lives.
In their previous announcement, they joyfully posed with sonogram photos, capturing the anticipation of becoming parents alongside their two dogs.
"Hardest secret to keep but… we couldn’t be more excited to share that we will be welcoming our baby GIRL this July! 🩷," they wrote at the time.
Reflecting on their journey together before marriage, Dawson expressed his anticipation for the future and the joys of building a family.
"I’m excited to celebrate with our family, to grow together even stronger, to work through the hard times, to start a family and to always have someone closer than close," he shared with PEOPLE ahead of their wedding.
As Devin Dawson and Leah Sykes embark on this new adventure of parenthood, their fans and well-wishers eagerly await more updates and celebrate this special moment with them.
