KARACHI:

A protest was staged on National Highway in Gulshan-e-Hadeed against the killing of a 60-year-old woman and injury to her daughter during a shootout between unidentified suspects and police.

As per details, the protest started at Sassi Toll Plaza on T-Crossing Link Road on Saturday afternoon, which disrupted traffic on both tracks for over 20 hours. Protesters alleged that Sara Ibrahim, 60, was killed and her daughter Ghinwa Ibrahim was injured by police firing as they demanded that a case be filed against the SHO of Steel Town police station and others under charges of murder and attempted murder.

The Steel Town police have already registered a case against the unidentified suspects in a Suzuki Alto car on the complaint by a head constable, holding them responsible for the incident. However, family members of the deceased accused the police of involvement in the shooting.

Malir Division SP Saeed Rind acknowledged the family’s demands for legal action against the SHO and other officials, confirming negotiations with the protesters.
