ISLAMABAD:

The telecom companies have blocked the mobile phone SIMs of 228,000 non-filers, while those of 62,000 have been restored after they filed their returns in line with the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Income Tax General Order (ITGO).

In this connection, FBR officials said the board would continue to block the SIMs of non-filers sent to the telecom companies in batches.

They added that the telecom companies were providing compliance reports by blocking the SIMs of non-filers.

The FBR officials continued that the data of 5,000 mobile SIMs was being sent to telecom companies on a daily basis.
