Motorcyclist dies in Raiwind road crash

A man died when a rickshaw crashed into his motorcycle in Raiwind.

The body was moved to a morgue for autopsy. The deceased has been identified as Anees.

Police said they were investigating the incident. Meanwhile, at least nine people died, whereas 1,290 were injured in 1,233 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Of the victims, 554 people with serious injuries were shifted to hospitals, while 736 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident sites by Rescue Medical Teams.

As many as 74% of the road accidents involved motorbikes. Official data showed that 700 adult and 63 underage drivers, 156 pedestrians and 443 passengers were among the victims.

The statistics showed that 246 RTCs were reported in Lahore, which affected 238 persons, followed by 93 in Faisalabad with 95 victims and 79 in Multan with 90 victims.

The victims included 1,044 males and 255 females, of whom 257 were under 18 years of age, 655 between 18 and 40 years and 387 above 40 years.

According to the data, 1,112 motorbikes, 59 auto-rickshaws, 124 cars, 32 vans, 11 buses, 32 trucks and 81 other types of vehicles.
