Natasha Lyonne is set to helm an episode of the hit procedural 'Poker Face' as the show gears up for its second season on Peacock.
Director Rian Johnson marked the start of filming for the sophomore season with an Instagram Story post, showcasing the show's clapboard where Lyonne was listed as the director for episode two.
The series, inspired by the classic detective format of 'Columbo' and dubbed a "howcatchem" by Johnson, centers around Charlie Cale (played by Lyonne), a sharp-witted casino employee dodging the mob while unraveling a series of murders.
Known for its star-studded lineup, 'Poker Face' has featured appearances by Adrien Brody, Ron Perlman, Chloë Sevigny, and other notable names.
Lyonne, who also serves as a writer and executive producer on the show, previously directed the Season 1 episode 'The Orpheus Syndrome', which boasted guest stars like Nick Nolte and Cherry Jones.
Her multifaceted involvement in the series has garnered critical acclaim, earning her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for Best Actress.
During Deadline’s TV Contender event last April, Johnson hinted at the ongoing narrative of 'Poker Face' and expressed a desire to continue the series indefinitely.
"We want to keep doing it," Johnson remarked, likening the show's structure to the episodic nature of 'Quantum Leap'. "Our goal is to just keep doing that as long as we can."
