Senior Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon has called the accusations levelled against Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto by Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui 'shameful' and has demanded an apology from MQM as well as the resignation of the Sindh governer.
Sharjeel, addressing a press conference along with Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, said that MQM-P leadership has again stooped to sensational politics, resorting to accusations. This kind of politics has caused MQM to shrink from three to four cities to the level of a union council.
The Sindh information minister said that Siddiqui spewed venom against our leader, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who made significant sacrifices for the nation. Siddiqui had blamed Bhutto for implementing quota system only in Sindh to stop the progress of the children of the people who had migrated to Pakistan.
Sharjeel said that the quota system was implemented after careful consideration to protect the people of backward areas. This system was being criticized based on the inappropriate comments of Siddiqui.
He reminded that MQM-P wielded significant power in Musharraf's era, but did nothing against the quota system. He said that educated youth were waiting for employment, but MQM got a ban on the jobs through a stay order. Because of MQM's actions, the hands of many departments were tied. In response to a question, Sharjeel said that 50,000 vacancies in the education department were filled transparently through the IBA test.
