Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah directed power distribution companies to refrain from load-shedding from the 1st to the 12th of Muharram.
Presiding over a joint meeting with administration officials and religious scholars on Monday, Shah finalised arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings.
The scholars pointed out instances of load-shedding in their areas and requested the chief minister to ensure K-Electric refrains from it during the holy month, especially from the 1st to the 12th of Muharram.
Shah assured uninterrupted power supply to mosques and gatherings and issued instructions to K-Electric, HESCO, and SEPCO to ensure uninterrupted power supply during this period.
Addressing the scholars, Shah praised the province's unity beyond sectarian lines, emphasising peaceful coexistence among its people. He expressed confidence that this mutual respect would further strengthen.
He instructed the Sindh IGP to provide necessary security for Muharram gatherings and processions, in consultation with Shia scholars. He also urged the IGP to develop a security plan in coordination with them.

The religious leaders highlighted issues with drainage systems, particularly in areas where gatherings would take place.
Shah instructed the Water Board to improve drainage and tasked the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation with road repairs if needed. He also directed the Water Board to ensure water supply to mosques and gatherings.
Shah urged the Solid Waste Management Board to enhance cleanliness on roads and streets for the Muharram processions.
He instructed Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani to visit Imam Bargahs and mosques to resolve their issues. He further directed the provincial administration to cooperate with event organisers.
Furthermore, Shah directed Planning and Development, and Energy Minister Nasir Shah to liaise with K-Electric, HESCO, and SEPCO to prevent load-shedding during the specified period.
Following the chief minister’s directive, the minister will convene a meeting with power distribution companies, administration, and scholars. He assured the religious leaders that they could reach out for assistance at any time.
