Karachi has finally found some respite from its scorching heat as the sea breeze has returned, notified the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday.
For days, the metropolis had been enduring extreme temperatures, but the PMD reported today that sea winds are now blowing at 18 km per hour.
Despite this relief, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid in the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures predicted to reach between 35°C and 37°C. The humidity level is currently at 70%.
Over the past 24 hours, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 32°C.
As per a weather analyst, the hot and humid conditions had created low air pressure over the Arabian Sea, but this situation is likely to change soon.
The return of the sea breeze might bring sea clouds to the city, with a chance of drizzle during the night and early morning in the coming days.
Karachi has been under a severe heatwave recently. Although a brief spell of rain provided temporary relief, no rain is forecast for today. Nonetheless, experts anticipate the start of monsoon rains this week.
Karachi’s residents are hopeful that the upcoming weather changes will provide much-needed relief from the oppressive heat.
Yesterday, the Met office forcasted that city will experience hot and humid weather over the next three days.
It reported that most parts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and humid as well, with thunderstorms and rain likely in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Dadu, and Kashmore districts over the next 48 hours.
