Powerful Manhattan law firm Grubman, Shire, Meiselas & Sacks (GSM&S) has severed ties with rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs. The firm, which represents many high-profile clients in the music industry, stated that the decision was made proactively by its partners months ago, unrelated to external pressures. "The decision to part ways with Mr. Combs was proactively made by the partners in the firm a number of months ago as they felt it was the right thing to do," a spokesperson told Page Six.

Contrary to a NewsNation report suggesting that Lady Gaga pressured the firm to drop Combs or she would leave, the firm denied these claims. "The report that the decision was the result of client pressure just isn’t true," the spokesperson asserted. A source close to Lady Gaga also confirmed to Page Six that such a conversation never occurred.

Combs, who had been a client of GSM&S for over 20 years, is facing mounting sexual assault allegations. The decision to drop him was influenced by these allegations, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Diddy had a close relationship with the firm's legendary lawyer, Allen Grubman, and was known to visit Grubman’s Hampton residence before his recent controversies. Reports indicate that the firm was concerned that losing a high-profile client like Lady Gaga could lead to other prominent clients leaving as well. Past and present clients of GSM&S include Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Lil Nas X, The Weeknd, Madonna, U2, and Drake.

Combs' reputation has suffered significantly following the allegations. Mayor Eric Adams revoked his key to New York City after a video leaked showing Combs allegedly assaulting his ex-partner. Combs also recently removed content from his Instagram account.
