Chace Crawford claims he sported the 'Bieber Bowl Cut' before Justin Bieber and Zac Efron

Crawford stakes his claim as the first to debut the famous hairstyle, dubbing himself the original "OG mop."

Chace Crawford, star of Amazon Prime's hit series 'The Boys,' made a bold fashion statement on a recent episode of "Watch What Happens Live" with Andy Cohen. 

Reflecting on his early aughts fashion, Crawford surprisingly claimed the original fame for the iconic bowl haircut, famously known as the Bieber cut, stating he sported it even before pop sensations Justin Bieber and Zac Efron.

During the show, as Cohen teased him about his "Bieber hairdo," Crawford quickly shifted from embarrassment to asserting his trendsetting role. 

"I think I was the first one though, no? I was. And before Efron, yeah. I was the first one. OG mop!" he declared. 

This playful exchange led Cohen to humorously concede that Crawford could "keep this one" as a fashion win, unlike his other regrettable early looks.

Crawford, who humorously critiqued his past fashion mishaps including a "trash" Affliction shirt and a "weird Twilight vibe," reminisced about the days before the prevalence of celebrity stylists, joking, "This is before actors used stylists. I look like Pinocchio."

Currently starring in the fourth season of 'The Boys' as The Deep, Crawford's character takes on a bizarre romantic storyline involving an octopus wife, voiced by Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton. Showrunner Eric Kripke shared the creative casting choice, noting, "Once we decided we were going to have Deep have regular conversation with his octopus wife, we just wanted the biggest, classiest, British Oscar-winning actress we could possibly find." 

Swinton's involvement brought a unique flavor to the show, with Kripke recalling the recording session as "one of the great professional days of my life."

'The Boys' continues to captivate audiences with its unconventional storytelling, airing new episodes on Thursdays on Prime Video.
