Coldplay wows A-List stars with spectacular Glastonbury performance

Tom Cruise reportedly called the band’s fifth headlining performance “awesome.”

Coldplay's headline performance at Glastonbury 2024 transcended mere concert expectations, delivering a show that left A-list stars and fans alike in awe. 

Their presence on the Pyramid Stage broke a record, with the band being the only one to headline the festival five times.

Led by frontman Chris Martin, Coldplay kicked off their set with an electrifying rendition of "Yellow," setting the tone for an evening filled with hits that spanned their illustrious career. From "Higher Power" to "Viva La Vida," Coldplay kept fans on their toes throughout the performance.

What truly set this performance apart was Coldplay's dedication to inclusivity and spectacle. Wristbands turned the entire field into a canvas of pulsating light, while confetti cannons and laser displays dazzled the senses. 

Martin's interactions with the audience, from front-row stalwarts to latecomers at the back, underscored the band's connection with their fans.

Highlights included surprise appearances by stars like Michael J Fox, who joined the band on stage for a poignant rendition of "Fix You," and collaborations with Nigerian star Burna Boy and British rapper Little Simz on new tracks. 

Despite occasional criticisms of pandering, Coldplay impressed its wide audience of A-list stars and fans alike. Tom Cruise, who was in attendance alongside other A-listers like Gillian Anderson and Simon Pegg, called the performance "awesome."

For many, the climax came during the encore on a secondary stage, where Martin serenaded individual fans and paid homage to Glastonbury co-founder Sir Michael Eavis.
