A federal lawsuit filed in California on Thursday by a woman identified as Jane Doe alleges that DJ and producer Diplo distributed revenge porn.
The lawsuit states that Doe started communicating with Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, on Snapchat in April 2016 when she was 21. They exchanged explicit images for two months, and subsequently, began a sexual relationship.
This relationship lasted until October 2023, the month before Doe discovered that Pentz had been sharing images and videos of their sexual encounters without her consent.
What are the sexual assault allegations launched against Diplo?
Doe's lawsuit marks the second set of revenge porn accusations against Pentz, whose globe-trotting lifestyle frequently features in his prolific social media posts.
She stated that she informed Pentz she did not want him to record their sexual activities without her consent or share any images or videos with others.
Doe alleges that in November of last year, a woman she didn't know contacted her, claiming to have images and videos of Doe and Pentz engaging in sexual activities.
The woman informed Doe that she had received the materials from Pentz on Snapchat in October 2018. The lawsuit alleges that Diplo has continued to share Doe’s intimate images and videos up to the present time.
According to the lawsuit, Doe reported Pentz to the New York Police Department on November 7, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest.
Pentz gained musical fame and recognition in the 2000s, but in recent years, his public image has become more associated with his social presence. Regularly seen at red carpet events and A-list sports gatherings, his frequent appearances have made him a familiar, almost "Where's Waldo?" figure.
Doe is pursuing damages from Pentz for breaching revenge porn laws.
