Camila Cabello reflects on friendship with Taylor Swift and songwriting inspiration

Speaking on Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe, Camila revealed, "I was the f–king biggest Taylor fan. Then she became my friend a few years after."

Discussing her upcoming album C,XOXO, set for release this Friday, Camila delved into how Taylor Swift's mentorship has shaped her approach to writing music. She admitted to grappling with imposter syndrome but highlighted the transformative effect of surrounding herself with peers like Swift and Drake. 

"It really just elevates you, even on a subconscious level," Camila shared. "There’s something about their energy and their confidence and their wisdom from just doing it so long that I think just kind of pulls your game up."

Camila also drew parallels between her songwriting process and her admiration for the writing in HBO's series "Girls," emphasizing the importance of "show-don’t-tell" technique in crafting emotional narratives. 

She explained, "If you’re a really emotional person, instead of just saying, ‘This devastated me,’ which Taylor is a master at this, you paint it."

With collaborations featuring Drake, Lil Nas X, Playboi Carti, and City Girls' JT and Yung Miami, Camila's upcoming album promises to showcase her evolving artistry.
