A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking the disqualification of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi from his Senate seat.

The petitioner, Mashkoor Hussain, filed the plea through Advocate Nadeem Sarwar, with the federal government, Ministry of Interior, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Mohsin Naqvi named as respondents.

He further argued that Naqvi was ineligible to contest for the Senate as, at the time of his nomination, he was serving as the Chairman of PCB.

Following this, the petition cited Article 63 of the Constitution, which stipulates that an individual cannot simultaneously hold both positions.

The petition urged the LHC to issue an order for Naqvi's removal from the Senate seat.
