RAWALPINDI:

Another incident of a woman driver running over a Motorway policeman was reported on Thursday. A British woman of Pakistani origin, driving at high speed, ran over a Motorway patrol officer at the Islamabad Motorway Toll Plaza after being issued a challan. Fortunately, the officer was unharmed.

At the request of the Motorway Patrol Officer, a case was registered at Rawalpindi's Naseerabad Police Station. The Motorway Police issued a challan on the woman's British driving license and shared her identity and vehicle details with the police. Efforts are underway to arrest the female driver.

According to the case filed, Motorway Police Patrol Officer Muhammad Kamran stopped the woman at the Islamabad Motorway Toll Plaza for exceeding the speed limit of 120 km per hour, as she was driving at 132 km per hour. The woman verbally abused and threatened the officer. The 20-year-old passenger in the front seat handed over the woman’s British driving license, identifying her as Farzana Tabassum. The Motorway Police issued a challan of Rs2500.

Although the woman paid the challan, she then rammed her vehicle into the officer's right leg and fled the scene. Rawalpindi police stated that a case has been registered at Naseerabad police station at the request of the Motorway patrol officer. The case includes charges of hit and run, threats, and violation of the National Highway Safety Act.

The police, equipped with the woman's identity and vehicle registration details, have started efforts to apprehend the accused.

A similar case was reported earlier this year when a woman was seen in a video speeding away after hitting a motorway police officer after being issued a fine ticket at the Motorway Toll Plaza in Islamabad.
